This is the story of a handful of creative college students (and a few dropouts) who met in the early 1970s and realized they had a mutual interest in improvised comedy. Trying out new material in various venues, they honed performance styles, formed a tight network of unique individuals and sowed the seeds of their prodigious futures.
In Edmonton, Canada, the group unleashed their skits among cheesy props and cheap sets to an increasingly international television audience. We follow the lives and experiences of the members of Second City as they came together, broke apart and continually crossed over, forging individual careers in comedy as well as in movies, writing and direction.
Through reminiscences and footage, it is shown how the original group of talented performers found huge success and cemented their place in the lexicon of modern comedy.
With clips from TV shows and live performance from the last four decades, the film also features interviews and contributions from Mike Myers, Jim Belushi, Ryan Stiles, Martin Short, Colin Mochrie, Tina Fey, Patrick McKenna, Alan Arkin and many more.
